Theory Classes - Music Grammar Get international certified for your Music Theory. Junior Theory Class - for the ABRSM Grade 1 or 2 test on Feb 25, 2012
Beginners of theory (prefer ABRSM practical Grade 1 or 2 passed).

Keyboard Gym - comprehensive introduction to piano with Kodaly method - Kodaly approach to explore note values, rhythmic patterns, keyboard geography and music reading - game format with percussion group ensemble. Complete foundation and one of the best kind of keyboard preparation class. For kids just starting piano or are preparing to start piano (5-7 years of age)

GarageBand Composition Music Tech Level 1 - musical forms and composition basics (computer and iPad formats) excellent for beginning grades students for exploring this excellent softwares in a step by step format and enjoy the fun in writing your own music. Students will have the chance to upload their music to the internet or burn CD for their final projects. Free computer lab time is included for students who enroll in this class. 5 students max per class.

*1 hour each session ($120 - 6 times) Saturday 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Jan 7, Jan 14, Jan 21, Jan 28, Feb 4 and Feb 11)

  Sibelius Music Tech Level 1 - music notation and publishing basics - our music technology lab will help all levels of students in music training and prepare piano players for the creative world of music.

'Sibelius' for writing, playing, printing and publishing music notation. We are using the same versions as Universities and Colleges use. Class will be formed for training in this award winning music notational software. This 3 basic training sessions will get you fully prepared with basic elements to start with whatever projects in the future. ($90 for 3 training sessions) 5 students max. per class.

Sept 10 (Saturday 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.) / Oct 16 (Sunday 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.) / Oct 30 (Sunday 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.)

*NEW CLASS TIME -

Sunday 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Jan 8, Jan 22, Feb 5, 2012)

Topics includes:

  • Setting up the score (instruments, style, time signature, tempo, key signature)
  • Using Keypad to input notes and rests
  • Adding accidental, staccato, slur, accent etc
  • Transposing the bars up and down
  • Change durations of notes for publishing
  • Input midi to Sibelius
  • Add lyrics to existing project
  • To learn how to make the score look “pretty”, completely fix a 'messy' score.
  • To add dynamics for your project

Students will get the chance to construct a simple score, input midi and make a short score including transposition to correct a messy score of midi input into a published ready score.

Sibelius Music Tech Level 2 - Chamber Music/ Orchestra music scoring the techniques/ Composition - Students will learn the basics of composition using various instrumental combinations. Students will learn the tricks of how to make jingles, own ringtones or game music using the composition techniques above. Mix media projects. Students should have solid background of Sibelius Level I and Basic knowledge of GarageBand Music Tech I before this class (6 classes, $30 per session) 4 students max. per class. - classes time to be announced.

Sibelius Music Tech Level 3 - Large scale composition/ Basics of film music and multi media projects - Students will learn more scoring techniques for revising songs in a Visual Media Friendly Format. Multi media projects. Short film, video, or projects of students' interest. Students should have fluent knowledge of Sibelius Level I and II training plus basic knowledge of Garage Band Music Tech I before this class. (6 classes, $30 per session) 4 students max. per class. - classes time to be announced.
